Online EMDR in the UK
Because you are not defined for what happened to you, or when. Trauma and difficult experiences or events had happened to you, even though you moved forward, struggled, but kept moving … you are strong and have been doing it all with the trauma burden. We know PTSD can be treated regardless of how long ago happened. That trauma burden can be realised and EMDR is one of the most effective tools for treatment.

What is EMDR?
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy is a mental health treatment technique, evidence-based for PTSD and trauma. It has been proved very effective too for: anxiety, panic attacks, phobias, addictions, OCD, chronic pain and depression.
EMDR Intensive Therapy involves bilateral stimulation (typically, but not only eye movement) while you process trauma or distressing life experiences. World Health Organisation (WHO) and National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) recognise EMDR as a proven psychotherapy to help people recover from traumatic events.
How is EMDR therapy different from other therapies?
EMDR therapy differs from other psychotherapies in it:
does not require extensive discussion of the distressing issue
does not need the completion of homework between sessions
uses eye movements to help process traumatic memories
work is done on a physical and psychological level
enables the brain to resume its natural healing process
rewires your brain
requires fewer sessions compared to other forms of therapy
can be done in intensive format to achieve faster results
How does EMDR work?
EMDR rewires your brain through bilateral brain stimulation. Bilateral stimulation activates repeatedly both sides of the brain. It is very similar to how your brain naturally process daily memories during REM sleep.
Traumatic memories exist in their own neural network in the right side of the brain (emotional part). It is disconnected from the left side of the brain (think, speech part). This disconnection prevents the brain from using its natural healing processes. It is like an unhealed wound in the brain.
As a result, the brain does not receive the message that the danger is over. Keeping in alert, being easily triggered and perceiving situations or events as an active threat. That activates neurological responses such as: fight, flight or flee. These survival instincts are very difficult to control.
EMDR therapy helps develop new neural pathways in the brain that allow both sides to communicate
desensitising the traumatic experiences
removing blocks
activating the natural brain healing
so traumatic memories will eventually be integrated in the person narrative. Representing a past event that is not overcharged anymore.
Is Online EMDR effective?
Research has showed that EMDR online is as effective as EMDR in person for PTSD, depression, anxiety and other concerns. EMDR online can deliver better outcomes than in person EMDR Intensive Therapy for clients too anxious to leave their house, the ones who travel constantly or the ones who find therapist’s office triggering, since it can be delivered from the comfort of client’s home, office or hotel as long as it has a good internet connection. For clients with very busy schedules that struggle with weekly appointment EMDR Intensives online can be the alternative, providingtreatment in long session 1 to 5 days in a row.
