What Is a Trauma Therapy Intensive and Could It Be Right for You?
If you have ever felt like weekly therapy just isn’t enough or like your healing is moving too slowly you are not alone. Sometimes what we really need is not more time but a different kind of space focused intentional and designed for real change. That is where trauma therapy intensives come in.
So what exactly are they and how do you know if this type of deep work might be what you need? Let’s talk it through.
First Things First, What Is a Trauma Therapy Intensive?
A trauma therapy intensive is a more focused and accelerated approach to emotional healing most often using EMDR which stands for Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing a proven method to help people process difficult life experiences.
Most people don’t come in saying I have trauma, instead they come in saying “I am anxious all the time” “I feel burned out” or “I can’t shake this depression”. Often these symptoms come from unresolved emotional experiences whether they are big traumas or smaller ongoing stressors that have built up over time.
An intensive can help by condensing the work into just a few days usually between one and five with longer sessions that allow you to stay fully in the process and keep momentum going.
It is not just about moving quickly but about going deeper. You get space to move beyond surface feelings work through stuck emotional patterns and experience real lasting shifts without waiting weeks between sessions.
That Sounds Intense, Yes! and That Is the Point 🚀
The idea of several hours a day of trauma therapy can sound overwhelming but it is not about pushing through pain it is about creating a safe and supportive space where you can finally unpack what has been weighing you down and begin to make sense of it.
Clients often describe the experience as deep structured and empowering. There is something grounding about being able to stay with the process and let healing unfold naturally without interruptions.
Who Is This For?
Trauma intensives are not for everyone but they can be incredibly powerful for the right person. You might consider one if you have been through difficult or painful experiences that still affect you, if you feel stuck in traditional weekly therapy or do not have time for it, if anxiety overwhelm burnout or emotional blocks are making daily life harder than it should be, if you want to work through a specific challenge like a breakup loss or transition with focused care or if you are motivated open and ready to create change now and not months from now.
These intensives are especially helpful for busy people those who travel frequently or anyone who needs a flexible online option. The intensives at Fly Out of the Box are fully virtual so you can do them from the comfort of your home without a commute or waiting rooms.
What Is It Like to Work This Way?
At Fly Out of the Box here is how I structure EMDR intensives:
1. 🧭 First you have a Discovery Session which is a warm and open conversation to explore what you are struggling with what you want to achieve and whether this format feels right for you. If you decide to move forward, the cost of that session is credited toward your intensive package, so your first step is never wasted.
2. 📝 Next there is an Intake and Preparation session where we dive deeper into your story your goals and what kind of support will help you most. We will also prepare you for the emotional side of the work so you know what to expect and how to take care of yourself during and after.
3. 🔁 Then come the Intensive Days from half day or full day sessions over one to five days. This gives you uninterrupted time to really do the work with guidance compassion and breaks whenever you need them.
4. 🌱 After the intensive, I offer a free Follow Up Session a few weeks later to check in, celebrate your progress and help the changes stick.
Nothing here is cookie cutter everything is tailored to you your story your pace and your goals.
Is It Too Much All at Once?
That is a fair question. Trauma work can bring up emotions fatigue or memories you may not have touched in years. That is why we move carefully and never push beyond what feels manageable. Think of it like finally turning toward the things you have been carrying and saying you do not have to carry this alone anymore.
You will never be alone in this process. I will be there with you calm steady and supportive every step of the way.

Because sometimes healing does not need to take years sometimes it just needs the right space the right method and someone who really gets it.
